Southeast Michigan Air Quality Contractor

JustAir manages over 115 air quality monitors across Southeast Michigan. The Air Quality Contractor is responsible for ensuring all monitors are installed correctly and collecting data effectively out in the field. Work includes but is not limited to:

Implementing air quality monitor deployment and maintenance of all monitors in the Southeast Michigan-area JustAir networks. This includes doing field work, site visits, and implementing regular calibration, collocation deployment, and maintenance checks quarterly and as needed.
Implementing monitor deployment and maintenance documentation, safety protocols, and utilizing troubleshooting guidelines using manufacturer-recommended practices, field work, research, and more.
Working closely with JustAir’s Air Quality Network Manager and other field contractors to receive field work assignments and reviewing protocol checklists and work according to JustAir’s goal response times.
Training will be provided on all of the above; experience with air quality monitors is not a precondition for hire.

Work will include effectively communicating with JustAir team members, including a weekly up-to-30 minute check-in, completing all required documentation via the JustAir dashboard or related tools before the end of a shift, and collaborating with team members to innovate and improve processes.

Because of the nature of this role, the Installation & Maintenance Contractor must meet the following requirements:

Be able and willing to travel within Wayne County, and potentially other locations in Michigan regularly to implement field work in a variety of weather conditions (mileage reimbursements covered by the company).
Be able to meet virtually weekly for 15 - 30 minutes with JustAir’s Air Quality Network Manager
Have a current drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle.
Have a smart phone with the ability to easily access the internet. Confident using computers/phone, completing forms, reviewing spreadsheets, and using the Google Docs suite.
Able and willing to climb a 6-foot ladder.
Able to lift 20 lbs above your head.
Able to confidently use basic tools such as a screwdriver, drill, hose clamps, etc.
Skilled in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and implementing basic installation and maintenance work on air quality monitor hardware.
Willing to obtain general liability insurance coverage (reimbursement covered by the company).
Willing to occasionally make small purchases while in the field, if necessary (reimbursement covered by the company).
Able to receive deliveries and safely store JustAir property if necessary.
Self-director with excellent time management and communication skills.

Additional Details

This is a part-time, contract (1099) position and we estimate the role will fluctuate between 10 and 40 hours per month, depending on network needs. Because the monthly earnings may vary significantly, we understand this role will likely fit alongside other paid work so the contractor fulfilling this role must have a high degree of flexibility, self-direction and excellent time management and communication skills.

JustAir will purchase basic tools (ladder, drill, screwdriver, etc.) and personal safety materials (reflective vest, work gloves, etc.) for the Contractor, of which will need to be stored securely by the Contractor.

The Contractor will track all fieldwork and reimbursements and submit monthly invoices for processing. Pay is expected to average between $25 and $45 per hour.

Training and meetings: $25 per hour
Installation & Maintenance Hourly: $15
Installation & Maintenance Per Monitor: $20
Mileage Reimbursement: $0.70 per mile while traveling for monitor installation or maintenance, which is currently standard IRS mileage reimbursement rate (will be adjusted annually).
Field Reimbursement: JustAir will make its best effort to purchase all materials in advance of an installation or maintenance job. On occasion, the Contractor may need to make small purchases while in the field (a handful of screws, etc.). JustAir will fully reimburse any necessary field purchases.

This role does not have an end date and is not term-limited.
